New Jersey: Grant Will Help Those With HIV/AIDS

May 19, 2011

The Bergen Family Center has been awarded a $280,000 federal grant to help persons recently diagnosed with HIV/AIDS access medical care and support through the Ryan White program. BFC has offices in Englewood, Teaneck, and Hackensack; it will use some of the funds to expand its outreach to spread AIDS awareness in targeted populations including drug users and men who have sex with men, said John Cuttito, director of counseling services. In addition, the newly created early intervention effort will "get people who just found out they have HIV/AIDS to doctor appointments, especially the first two appointments, which are very important," he said.
