Policy & Politics Capitol Rally Will Focus on Connecticut AIDS FundingMay 12, 2011 AIDS activists and some public officials held a rally at the Capitol on Wednesday to raise awareness about the ongoing need to support HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services. Funding for HIV/AIDS-related programs has not kept pace with the number of people needing services, said Shawn Lang of the Connecticut AIDS Resource Coalition. Rally organizers urged Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to hold HIV/AIDS funding safe against additional cuts if an expected $2 billion labor savings agreement is not reached with state employees.
