U.S. News Curran Honored for AIDS Prevention ContributionsApril 15, 2011 Dr. James Curran, dean of Emory's Rollins School of Public Health, has been named the recipient of the 2011 Ryan White Distinguished Leadership Award. The award is presented by the Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention, a joint project of Indiana University, the University of Colorado, and the University of Kentucky. It honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to HIV/AIDS prevention both in the United States and internationally. Curran led CDC's HIV research and prevention efforts in the 1980s. He has served as the Rollins School's dean since 1995 and holds joint appointments in the Emory School of Medicine, the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
