Florida: AIDS Walk Raises $640,000
April 1, 2011
The Florida AIDS Walk 2011, held March 20 in Ft. Lauderdale, raised $640,000 toward expanding HIV prevention and testing in Broward and Miami-Dade counties. The walk's total surpassed this year's goal of $500,000 and the $460,000 raised last year; its beneficiaries include AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Broward House, SunServe, the Price Center at Equality Park and Women In Network. Free HIV testing was offered by two of AHF's mobile testing units, while entertainment included performances by the Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida and recording artist Nicole Henry.
