Maine: Center to Provide Women's HIV/STD Testing
March 8, 2011
In recognition of Thursday's designation as National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Western Maine Community Action Health Services of Norway will offer free HIV and STD testing to all females on March 8, 10 and 11 at its facility at 9 Marston St. Across Maine, numerous organizations -- including WMCAHS, the Maine HIV, STD and Viral Hepatitis Program, the Maine AIDS Alliance and others -- are coordinating to sponsor testing opportunities. Noting that "HIV does not discriminate," Dr. Stephen Sears, acting director of the Maine Center for Disease Control, added, "Getting tested should be part of routine health care, since early diagnosis and care lead to longer and healthier lives." For more information on the Norway outreach and to schedule appointments, telephone 207-743-2066.
