International News Philippines Worries Rising HIV CasesMarch 4, 2011 UNICEF's 2011 State of the World's Children report said HIV cases are increasing in the Philippines, among other findings. Among Filipinos ages 15-24, new cases rose more than 10-fold from 41 in 2007 to 489 last year, and new cases rose nearly five-fold for all age groups, from 342 in 2007 to 1,591 last year. "Certainly, we are concerned about HIV because it affects a segment of our population," said Edwin Lacierda, a spokesperson for President Benigno Aquino III.
