New York: Forum Discusses HIV/AIDS Issues

February 11, 2011

At a forum held Tuesday to observe National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, local leaders said stigma continues to prevent frank discussions of the disease and how it is transmitted in the African-American community. “We’ve got to be able to talk about it and come up with some answers because we already know what the problem is. This is something that is affecting our community every day,” said Rodney Frazier, a community advocate for Action Front Center, which sponsored the event. AFC officials said they will hold a follow-up program on March 18 to discuss next steps, including how to act on ideas suggested on Tuesday.
