California: Health Department Promotes the New Female Condom for Valentines

February 11, 2011

San Francisco's Department of Public Health is launching a citywide campaign to promote the new FC2 female condom that will target not only women, but also men who have sex with men. On Monday, staff at DPH's STD and HIV prevention sections will be at Civic Center Plaza to kick off the campaign. "The Teacher Bus," a mobile classroom, also will travel throughout the city that day to distribute FC2 condoms, mints, and chocolates. Ads promoting FC2 on city buses are planned. Public health officials say that in addition to protecting females from STDs and unplanned pregnancy, the FC2 condom can be used by gay men during anal sex.
