U.S. News New York: Callen-Lorde Opens PharmacyJanuary 21, 2011 Callen-Lorde Community Health Center, a provider of HIV/AIDS and LGBT primary health care services, has opened a pharmacy at its main location in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood. "Opening our own pharmacy is the next step in our continuing mission to provide quality, affordable health care to the community," said Executive Director Wendy Stark. "The integration of onsite pharmacy access clinically enhances our comprehensive primary care services as well as offers a more convenient and less expensive option for our patients when filling their prescriptions." Uninsured patients with incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty level will be eligible for additional prescription discounts at the pharmacy. The New York State Health Foundation and the federal Health Resources and Services Administration provided start-up money for the pharmacy.
