California: Volunteers Sought to Lead Bay Area HIV Support Groups

January 3, 2011

Friday, Jan. 7 is the application deadline for persons wishing to become facilitators of peer-led support groups with the University of California-San Francisco's AIDS Health Project. Qualified volunteers will participate in a weekend-long training session in late January that explores the fundamentals of support group facilitation; then they will take part in a variety of weekly or monthly groups. A 10- to 12-hour monthly commitment for at least six months is required. Past group experience is helpful, but not required. Persons living with HIV and individuals who are available for daytime assignments are particularly encouraged to apply. For more information, telephone Chris Lynch at 415-502-7576, or visit www.ucsf-ahp.org.
