Kentucky: Henderson HIV/AIDS Clinic Misses Out on Funds

December 28, 2010

Matthew 25, an HIV/AIDS clinic serving western Kentucky, will not receive a CDC grant that was approved for this year. Funds are not available for the $240,000 grant for the Henderson-based clinic's prevention program. Matthew 25 Community Services Director Sally Welch said the clinic secured a $110,000 state grant, allowing the organization to continue to keep its three full-time prevention workers on staff. Matthew 25 must serve 42 counties under the grant, but Welch said there is no money included for travel, and the clinic must pay for prevention supplies and other items. She said the organization plans to make up the difference with fundraisers.
