Questions & Answers: ResourcesQuestionI am an advocate for people living with HIV and have had a very difficult time finding reading materials for kids who are HIV positive. Your Web site is the only one I have found that is written for kids. I am very impressed. How did you water down the information but make it understandable? My questions are: Is a hard copy of this site available, especially "The Story of HIV" and "Meet the HIV"? The kids I work with do not have access to the Web. Are there other resources for kids? Keep up the great work.-- Advocate, Portland, Oregon USA
AnswerThank you for your interest in our Kids Connect Web site. Unfortunately, at this time the storyboard about HIV is exactly that, a storyboard. We have received mail from other visitors who have expressed interest in a hard copy of this story. We are in the process of seeking funding to reproduce the story for a bound book targeted to children and youth. There are other books -- one specifically titled, "You and HIV: A day at a Time" by Lynn S. Baker, published by W.B. Saunders Company, 1991 -- that maybe useful to you. Also a book about disclosure titled, "How Can I Tell You" by Mary Tasker, published by the Association for the Care of Children's Health, 1992.
