By Miguel Gomez
July 7, 2010
The Healthy People Initiative provides a framework to identify the most significant preventable threats to health and establishes national goals to reduce them. We asked Rear Admiral Penny Slade-Sawyer from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion to explain why Healthy People is important to the HIV/AIDS community. She also told us how HHS is reaching out to gather input from the HIV/AIDS community to address health disparities and other issues as they set the goals and objectives for Healthy People 2020.
