International News Chinese Court Rejects Gay Man's Lawsuit Over Blood DonationJuly 9, 2010 A court in Haidian, northwest Beijing, on Wednesday rejected a lawsuit filed by a gay man whose blood donation was refused by a Red Cross center. Chinese regulations bar "homosexuals and those with multiple sex partners" from giving blood. The court gave no reason for turning aside the case. The Beijing Times said the man, identified by his pen name Wang Zizheng, would seek justice through other channels. China classified homosexuality as a mental disorder until 2001. In December, the government warned that HIV transmission was accelerating among homosexuals.
