U.S. News New York: Advocates Push for More HIV TestingJune 25, 2010 Dentists and emergency room physicians should routinely offer HIV tests to patients, activists in Westchester County said this week. Westchester Knows, a task force of health officials, community organizers, health professionals, and representatives from faith-based groups, made its recommendation at an event anticipating National HIV Testing Day, June 27. "If we wait for people to come to us and ask for an HIV test, we and they will lose precious time," said task force member Trina Hiemcke, director of education and prevention for AIDS Related Community Services. The county reported 3,839 people living with HIV/AIDS as of December 2007 -- the state's second-highest caseload, after New York City.
