International News South Africa: Free Condoms Rolled Out for World Cup Hotel GuestsJune 22, 2010 About 100 hotels nationwide are offering World Cup visitors free condoms delivered to their rooms. "We are distributing 1 million condoms across the country," said Kai Crooks-Chissano, 2010 project manager at the South African Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS. "We thought one of the best places for condom use might just be in the bedrooms." The condom packaging has been branded in partnership with hotel chains and hospitality associations. Cape Town Tourism adopted the slogan "Play it Safe in Cape Town," while condoms distributed at 60 Southern Sun hotels are branded "I am responsible." "It's more something to protect our guests and to create that awareness," said Sergio Dreyer of Cape Town's Grand Daddy Hotel. "We all have fun. It's just telling people to be responsible."
