U.S. National HIV/AIDS Strategy Release Is ImminentBy Olivia Ford June 17, 2010 Finally, the release of the U.S.'s first-ever national HIV/AIDS strategy is almost upon us. "We're no longer talking months; we're talking weeks," said U.S. Office of National AIDS Policy director Jeffrey Crowley in a conference call with community members on June 17. Organizations across the U.S. are circling the wagons, preparing to alert their constituencies about the strategy upon its release. Since back in the days when ONAP convened a dozen-plus open meetings in different cities and communities across the U.S., in order to document what people had to say about what should be included in the nation's first national HIV/AIDS strategy, they've attempted to keep the community abreast of what they're up to as far as developing the strategy: updating their own blog and that of AIDS.gov; releasing a shiny report, including photos, on the results of the meetings; and hosting conference calls that even those who have limited access to the Internet have the option of taking part in.
