Am I in the "Safe Zone" for Yellow Fever Vaccination?
My CD4 count stays between 550 and 800 and my viral load is undetectable. In about three months I will travel to countries that require the yellow fever vaccination for entry. I received the vaccine about 15 years ago with no problems. I know that HIV-positive people are discouraged from receiving this vaccine, but I've read that it's safe for people with undetectable viral loads whose CD4 counts are above 500. What do you think?

What's the Best Product When Lipoatrophy Has Only Affected Part of Your Face?
Lipoatrophy has only affected one spot in my face: There's a wide, hollow triangular area above my upper jaw on the right side of my face. Which facial filler treatment do you think will give the best aesthetic result in this tricky area?

Could Starting HIV Meds Have Caused Pain in My Testicles?
I was diagnosed with HIV in November 2009 and started taking Atripla (efavirenz/tenofovir/FTC) six weeks ago. My CD4 count is up to 540 and my viral load is 150 and dropping. I've had persistent swollen lymph nodes and testicular pain since my diagnosis. I've tested negative for all other sexually transmitted diseases and have been treated with antibiotics, which take care of the pain and swelling for about a month before it returns. The same thing happened when I started taking Atripla. Do you have any idea what could be going on?

 Is Viread-Related Kidney Damage Reversible?
I switched the Truvada (tenofovir/FTC) in my regimen for Epzicom (abacavir/3TC) because I felt twinges of pain in my kidney area. If my kidneys were damaged by the Viread (tenofovir) in Truvada, will the damage ever improve?

Loss of Smell and Taste on Atripla?
I'm a doctor, and I see a woman in my practice who's been HIV positive since 2001. She started HIV medication with Atripla (efavirenz/tenofovir/FTC) six weeks ago. She's an aromatherapist and she says she can't smell or taste anything since starting Atripla. Have you ever heard of this side effect?

Can I Go Back on My Old HIV Meds Once My Baby Is Born?
I'm considering having a child soon. I take Atripla (efavirenz/tenofovir/FTC) and it's been working well for me, but I've heard it's not good for the baby and I may need to switch to another regimen while I'm pregnant. Will it be possible to get back on Atripla after pregnancy?

What Will It Take to Stop My Cholesterol From Climbing?
I am currently taking Lexiva (fosamprenavir, Telzir), Norvir (ritonavir) and Truvada (tenofovir/FTC). I'm also taking Pravachol (pravastatin) and TriCor (fenofibrate) for high cholesterol, but my cholesterol levels keep climbing. What else can I do?

How Do I Figure Out What's Causing My Joint Pain?
My CD4 count is over 800 and my viral load is undetectable. I started taking Lexiva (fosamprenavir, Telzir), Norvir (ritonavir) and Truvada (tenofovir/FTC) a year ago and have had joint pain for more than eight months. I have seen many specialists for this pain and can't find a treatment that works. I'm feeling hopeless. How can I get to the bottom of what's causing my pain?

Why Does Starting Treatment Depend on CD4 Count and Not Viral Load?
Why does the decision to start HIV treatment depend on the number of CD4 cells a person has, instead of the level of virus in a person's blood? Is treatment ever started in people with low CD4 counts and undetectable viral loads?

Will My Husband's Viral Load Ever Be Undetectable?
My husband is over 65 and was diagnosed HIV positive 10 months ago with a CD4 count less than 20 and a viral load over a million. He has been on HIV meds ever since, and he never misses doses. His viral load is now 853 and his CD4 count is 58. With continued treatment, can we expect his viral load to eventually be undetectable and his CD4 count to go up?
