U.S. News Georgia: Group Creates Local Affiliate on AIDSMay 11, 2010 On Monday, the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS announced it is opening an affiliate office in metro Atlanta. The local chapter will focus on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care, as well as advocacy and policy development, said the Rev. Raphael G. Warnock, an NBLCA leader and senior pastor of Atlanta's historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. The main goal is to change attitudes about HIV testing, he said. Atlanta's HIV/AIDS statistics mirror those nationwide, with African Americans disproportionately affected, said officials.
