Did You Know?
- One-third of Americans living with HIV are also co-infected with hepatitis C virus and up to 10% of HIV-positive Americans may also be co-infected with the hepatitis B virus.
- Complications resulting from viral hepatitis are a leading cause of death for people with HIV/AIDS in the U.S.
- There is no federal funding to provide core public health services for viral hepatitis including hepatitis B and C counseling, testing, surveillance and medical referral.
- There is no dedicated federal funding for care and treatment of viral hepatitis for people living with HBV, HCV, and people living with HIV/hepatitis coinfections.
