A Poem by Michelle

April 2010

Shattered Dreams (HIV and stigma)

Amidst shattered dreams and a wounded heart
I learn that I have been "infected"
But the virus multiplying in my blood
Is fueled by people's fear -- "stigma"
So also succeeds in injuring my soul
All joys of life have gone
All hopes of happiness crushed
And I am left in despair
Rejected and unlovable
Diseased and contagious

Love and hope are always on your side
Never let your soul wandering opposit side
Plan to enjoy each day, happiness is contagious
Spread it, stigma starts with you, end it..
Forgiviness,kindness, goodness,self control
live it, they will bring you joy, peace, patience
With or without virus,we all face the same end
Death
Treat you well others will follow your example
