South Carolina: HIV/AIDS Testing

February 5, 2010

Several events planned throughout the state this month seek to highlight the impact of AIDS on African Americans and provide free HIV testing. Blacks represent 30 percent of South Carolina's population but account for 73 percent of its recently diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases. About 80 percent of South Carolinians ages 15-24 who are diagnosed with the disease are African American. For information on HIV/AIDS-related events and testing sites, telephone 800-322-2437.
