ACRIA Releases Two DVDsSummer 2009 Two new DVDs with discussion guides (in English and Spanish) focusing on HIV and older adults are now available from ACRIA. The first is entitled The Many Faces of HIV: Older and Wiser (Los Muchos Rostros del VIH: Mayores y Más Sabios), and contains a series of personal stories based on actual interviews of older adults and their views on HIV. The second, Engaged (Comprometidos), is a product of our Community PROMISE interviews with older adults. It has a "soap-opera" format, and tells the story of friends who come together to celebrate a couple's engagement. The characters touch upon their own concerns, beliefs, and experiences as older adults living with, or at risk for, HIV. Both guides and DVDs offer service providers the opportunity to initiate discussions with their clients, and a special section allows them to practice the "Stages of Change" model. They are available by calling 212-924-3934 x129 or can be ordered online at acria.org. Want to read more articles in the Summer 2009 issue of Achieve? Click here.
