Blog Addresses Lawmaker's Views on Use of Federal Funding for Needle Exchange

August 6, 2009

Washington City Paper's "City Desk" blog discusses how legislation that proposes to lift the ban on the use of federal funding for needle exchange "might impose restrictions on federal funding of needle exchange in D.C. to the point that it could hardly be done at all." According to the blog, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), who wants to keep the limitations on needle exchanges, should "take special note of the section" in the D.C. Appleseed Center's report card on HIV/AIDS in the district released yesterday, which "says the district needs far more needle exchange, not less" (Neidowski, 8/5).
