U.S. News California: Walkers Raise $3.5 Million for Bay Area AIDS OrganizationsJuly 27, 2009 More than 25,000 people participated in the 23rd annual AIDS Walk San Francisco, raising over $3.5 million for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and many other Bay Area HIV/AIDS service organizations. While the amount was down by about $900,000 from the 2008 walk, "it's still really gratifying" given this economy, said Debra Holtz, SFAF's media relations manager.
