International News Record Number of HIV Infections in Belgium in 2008June 8, 2009 Belgium recorded its largest annual number of new HIV infections ever -- 1,078 -- in 2008, according to Federal Department of Public Health data reported by VRT news. While the number of cases linked to heterosexual transmission has fallen, the number among men who have sex with men is up, public health authorities said. Researchers said the data clearly show the need for a new campaign to warn people about the dangers of unprotected sex.
