Ron Wilmot Bike Ride for Project Inform

Saturday, May 13, 2000
Golden Gate Park
Gather/registration at 9:00; ride begins at 10:00

It's time to start thinking about the Ron Wilmot Bike Ride! Those of you who have participated in the past already know what a fun community event this is . . . and it's success continues to grow. What started as a visionary idea has become one of Project Inform's most important annual fundraising events. This bike ride:

Join us for seven leisurely miles through Golden Gate Park. As bike rides go, the Ron Wilmot Bike Ride for Project Inform may not be a demanding athletic event, but it is a very special one. Ron Wilmot was an extraordinary individual.

In just over two years, Ron single-handedly raised over $100,000 for research to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Ron was a terrific fundraiser. He elevated the gathering of sponsors for athletic fundraisers to a fine art, dedicating much of his own time and resources inspiring countless others to join him. His courage and fortitude were legendary in the AIDS community and in fundraising circles everywhere. Although Ron died of AIDS in 1997, the fundraising he pioneered goes on.

In starting the Ride six years ago, Ron Wilmot wanted to create a way for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS to become involved with Project Inform and learn how they can improve their health -- or the health of someone they care about -- by educating themselves about the disease.

This month, Project Inform begins its fifteenth year. We have ambitious plans for this year's Ride and hope to top last year's success by recruiting at least 100 riders and raising $100,000. You can make a real difference as we enter this landmark year. Register as a rider and encourage others to do the same.

So please don't delay. We're counting on you to join us May 13 at Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Register as a rider, encourage others to ride and help to support Project Inform, the nation's leading resource for HIV/AIDS treatment information.

For more information or to register as a rider, visit www.projectinform.org/develop/wilmot2000.html or call us at 415-558-8669. We will promptly send you materials so that you may begin to ask for donations to support your ride.
