Adebayor Chosen for UN Role to Combat AIDS

Soccer star Emmanuel Adebayor has been named by the UN as a global ambassador to fight HIV/AIDS. A native of Togo, Adebayor is a striker for the Holloway Arsenal and will work in the UNAIDS effort with Michael Ballack, a native of Germany and a midfielder with the Chelsea Football Club. "On the pitch, we compete; off the pitch, we are uniting the world against AIDS," Adebayor said in a statement.
