Greetings Wise Women!!May 2004 Welcome to the first issue of Wise Words for 2004! As we move forward in research and developing new technologies to treat HIV, vaccines are increasingly becoming an interest to many communities. While the world of vaccine research can be complex and overwhelming, understanding the basics can help you to grasp what would otherwise be very confusing. This issue of Wise Words provides some basic information about vaccines (both preventive and therapeutic HIV vaccines) and a useful tool that you can take with you to your doctor. In our policy section, we talk about the decreased funding for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program and one woman’s journey to advocacy. As always, your feedback is crucial.
