U.S. News AIDS Foundation of Chicago Launches "Cure" CampaignFebruary 6, 2009 Coinciding with Saturday's designation as National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC) is kicking off a new campaign whose purpose is to inform African Americans about how they can help end the epidemic. The campaign's theme is "With Me Comes a Cure," and its "main selling point is that every person in the African-American community has the power to heal the community and end the spread of AIDS," said the Rev. Doris Green, director of correctional health and community affairs at AFC. Under development since 2007, the campaign centers on a Web site, www.withmecomesacure.org. On campaign materials, a blank box is introduced by the word "With" and followed by "comes a cure." The idea is that individuals will write an idea or action step in the box that they believe will help stop the spread of HIV.
