Companies, NGOs Launch HIV Prevention Initiative Aimed at Youth

December 8, 2008

New HIV/AIDS Initiative Aimed at Youth, Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation: The initiative was launched on Friday and will be coordinated by the U.S. government through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. It involves leaders from the private and public sectors, as well as nongovernmental organizations. HIV-Free Generation will combine evidence-based HIV prevention approaches with the private sector's ability to reach young people ages 10 to 24 with messages about healthy behaviors -- including messages about behavior change, gender equality, and economic skills and opportunities. The campaign also will measure its results through real-time monitoring and evaluation (HIV-Free Generation release (.pdf), 12/5).
