Starting Hope at University of Arizona by Stopping HIV Ignorance

December 5, 2008

A candlelight vigil at the fountain in front of Old Main was held Monday night to mark World AIDS Day at the University of Arizona-Tucson. "A lot of people have misconceptions," said Alyssa Padilla, a health and sexuality intern for the Women's Resource Center, which conducted an educational session about HIV. "While honoring people who have passed away from AIDS, we're trying to educate people," she said. The WRC also helped stage an HIV testing outreach Wednesday in the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership.
