U.S. News California: Housing Cuts Hurt Seniors, People With AIDSNovember 13, 2008 Advocates are staging a statewide day of action next Wednesday, Nov. 19, to protest Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's line item veto slashing California's renters' rebate program. The rebate gave $150 million to seniors and the disabled, including people living with AIDS. Dean Preston, executive director of the advocacy group Tenants Together, charged that the 40-year-old program was cut without notice. In San Francisco, a noon demonstration is planned across from City Hall.
