U.S. News North Carolina: New HIV Cases Put at 2,200August 19, 2008 According to CDC's improved method of estimating HIV infections, about 2,200 North Carolinians acquired the virus in 2006 - 953 more cases than the estimate of 1,247 found in the state's epidemiological survey. "We know that science-based prevention interventions and testing work to help prevent the spread of HIV," said Evelyn Foust, chief of the state's Communicable Diseases Branch.
