HOLA and Greetings

HOLA! Mi nombre es Brenda Calderon, soy una mujer que tiene ahora la oportunidad de trabajar para Women Alive, una organización que está dispuestá a luchar y ayudar a las mujeres que vivimos con el virus del VIH; gracias a organizaciones como está se nos toma en cuenta, por esa razon Women Alive ha recibido los fondos para continuar los servicios en la ciudad de Lynwood.

Estaremos ofreciendo un grupo de apoyo los segundos(2) y cuartos(4) miercoles de cada mes, tambien el ultimo sabado de mes tendremos una reunion con musica y diferentes actividades, se proporcionara comida y cuidado de niños en todos los eventos, lo coordinaremos las dos nuevas Avocantes de Tratamientos.

En lo personal mi meta es poder ofrecer los servicios a todas las mujeres interesadas a encontrar respuestas a diferentes inquietudes, pero me siento orgullosa de poder servir en español a la mujer latina, estoy conciente de las necesidades y sé que juntas luchar-emos por obtener los servicios.

Estaré trabajando en diferentes lugares, los martes en 5p21 clinica del Condado de Los Angeles, los miercoles en la clinica OASIS de Lynwood.

Una de mis creencias es "el tener información correcta te dá la habilidad de hacer la mejor decisión para tu vida y te demuestra que TU estas en control".

Greetings to all the readers of the Women Alive Newsletter. My name is Laverne Mack and I'm a new Treatment Advocate for HIV positive women and their partners. I sincerely hope that I will be able to make a difference in the way this epidemic is going. I intend to focus my efforts in the Black community, and I especially want to make the biggest difference there.

I didn't really know about the statistics of Black women until I started going to community updates and conferences. All of us together can help to decrease the statistics for those who are not living as long because they are not taking any type of treatment for HIV. I know first hand that it's hard to take all those pills. I have to do it too!

I want to urge all women who are infected or affected with this disease to give us a call at 323.965.1564. I would love to hear from you regarding any concerns you may have or any suggestions you may have about our new program.
