Maine: Walkers Brave Rain for AIDS Awareness

The 14th annual Walk for HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention benefiting the Down East AIDS Network was held Sunday in Machias. Turnout was smaller than usual, but the less than 20 walkers together still raised $1,000. Walks were also held in Augusta, Bangor, Brunswick, Ellsworth, Ogunquit, Portland, and Portsmouth, N.H. DEAN is a nonprofit, community-based organization funded by grants and donations from the Maine Center for Disease Control, United Way, Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Child and Family Services, Office of Substance Abuse, Healthways, and concerned residents.
