National HIV/AIDS Researcher to Speak at University of South Carolina

March 14, 2008

On Wednesday, Dr. David Ho, named Time magazine's 1996 Man of the Year for his breakthrough research on treating HIV/AIDS, will deliver the 2008 Johnson & Johnson Health Care Lecture at the University of South Carolina School of Law's auditorium. Ho's lecture on the ethical dilemma of treating those with HIV begins at 5 p.m.; the event is free, and the public is invited. "It is critical that South Carolina have a reasonable and just approach to providing HIV treatment to our citizens," said Jacqueline Fox, a professor of health care law and the coordinator of the lecture series. "Unfortunately, we are not endlessly wealthy, and hard choices have to be made." A panel discussion with a question and answer session will follow Ho's talk.
