North Carolina: Church Offers Free STD Tests

March 6, 2008

About 150 people received prevention counseling and 32 underwent HIV and/or syphilis tests last Saturday at an AIDS awareness event at Southgate Plaza Shopping Center in Raleigh. Christian Faith Baptist Church sponsored the outreach along with Wake County Human Services, Project STYLE, and the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina. "We believe it is an extension of practicing our faith," the Rev. David C. Forbes Sr. said of his church's role in event. "The Lord does not want people to perish from ignorance."
