Prevention/Epidemiology South Carolina: Committee Rejects Measure to Review State-Funded Sex Education ProgramsFebruary 21, 2008 The House Ways and Means Committee on Tuesday voted down a measure that would have created a panel to review sex education programs and prevent state money from being spent on those that provide medically inaccurate information. Heritage Trust Services has contracts with several South Carolina school districts to provide abstinence-based sex education; some observers have questioned whether the groups lessons on birth control and STDs are medically accurate.
