U.S. News New York: HIV Research GrantJanuary 30, 2008 The state Department of Health's Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program has awarded a $120,000 grant for HIV and immunology research to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. Over a two-year period, the money will help fund the salary of a medical resident or junior faculty member doing HIV research. "The goal is to train this physician to not just evaluate the patient but to learn immunological methods, to understand the science of HIV, and to further understand how the disease happens," said Dr. Marianne Frieri, who applied for the grant on behalf of NUMC.
