International News South Africa's AIDS Activist in Same-Sex MarriageJanuary 7, 2008 Zackie Achmat, South Africa's best-known AIDS campaigner, on Saturday married fellow activist Dalli Weyers. Judge Edwin Cameron of the Supreme Court of Appeal presided at the ceremony, which was held near Cape Town. Hundreds attended, including Cape Town Mayor Hele Zille and Ann Grant, the former British high commissioner. South Africa legalized same-sex marriage in November 2006.
