U.S. News Better Existence With HIV Announces Illinois Department of Public Health GrantNovember 12, 2007 Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV) will use a $70,000 grant from the state Department of Public Health to support its HIV-prevention programs in local schools. More than 12,000 metro Chicago students took part in the outreach in fiscal 2007. "Our Education Outreach program is growing each year as more people hear about the outstanding job we do educating our community's young people," said Eric Nelson, BEHIV's executive director. The group's school program offers comprehensive, age-appropriate presentations on staying HIV-negative, the realities of life with AIDS, and confronting peer pressure.
