U.S. News California: Taylor Honored for AIDS ActivismOctober 1, 2007 On Thursday night in Santa Monica at the annual Macy's Passport event she helped establish, Elizabeth Taylor received the fundraiser's first Humanitarian Award for AIDS Activism. Since 1988, Passport has raised more than $25 million for AIDS prevention, services, and research. Taylor, who is 75 and uses a wheelchair, walked across the stage with some assistance. "I will continue to be here until we defeat the enemy of HIV and AIDS," she told the audience, which gave her a standing ovation.
