California: AIDS Walk Raises Funds, Awareness

September 11, 2007

Saturday's East Bay AIDS Walk attracted 350 participants and raised about $50,000 for local AIDS care and treatment programs. Mayor Ron Dellums implored, "Get screened, Oakland," using the name of the city's new campaign that provides free HIV testing to persons ages 13 to 64. Also out to show her support was Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.).
