U.S. News Georgia: Specialty AIDS License Plates Now on SaleAugust 13, 2007 Georgia drivers now have the option of purchasing a license plate to support HIV awareness and help raise money for the Atlanta-based AIDS Survival Project. In addition to the $25 special tag charge, the plate's cost includes a $25 manufacturing fee, of which $10 will go to ASP. A total of 1,000 plates must be ordered by Dec. 31, 2008, before the state will begin producing them. Once 1,000 plates are ordered, drivers will be notified that their plate is being manufactured. Georgia voters in 2006 approved a constitutional amendment to allow funds raised from a variety of specialty tags to go to support the sponsoring organizations.
