U.S. News Abbott Laboratories Receives Additional FDA Approvals for HIV Test and SystemAugust 10, 2007 On Thursday, Abbott Laboratories announced it received two Food and Drug Administration approvals relating to its HIV-1 viral load test. FDA approved the use of smaller blood plasma sample sizes for the diagnostic. The agency also approved an enhancement to Abbott's m2000 automated instrument, which can process up to 96 specimens per batch and 192 specimens in one lab shift, for use with the test.
