Sharon Walmsley, M.D.

Sharon Walmsley, M.D.Dr. Walmsley is an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Toronto Hospital, University Health Network, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she is also assistant director of the immunodeficiency clinic and director of the clinical research program. A five-year career support award from the Ontario HIV Treatment Network enables her to continue her clinical research in the area of HIV clinical management.

Dr. Walmsley is a member of the Steering Committee and co-chairman of the clinical development core of the Canadian HIV Trials Network, and a member of the scientific review committee of the Canadian Association for HIV Research. She was recently elected to the governing council of the International AIDS Society. Dr. Walmsley is the clinical sciences co-chair for the XVI International AIDS Conference and a member of the steering committee of the Lipodystrophy Conference.

Dr. Walmsley received her medical degree from the University of Western Ontario. She has completed specialty training in infectious diseases, microbiology and internal medicine. Her master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology was obtained from the University of Toronto.
