Abbott Wins U.S. Approval for HIV Viral Load Test

On Friday, Abbott Laboratories Inc. said it had gained US approval for a viral load test for blood samples in automated lab systems. The RealTime HIV-1 viral load test was developed for use with Abbott's m2000 system, which performs DNA and RNA testing to help assess HIV/AIDS treatment. Abbott and Celera Group Inc. jointly market the m2000 system worldwide.
