Prevention/Epidemiology Missouri: Number of AIDS Hot Line Now Rings Up Sex TalkMarch 2, 2007 The AIDS hotline number listed on a bookmark distributed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is routing callers to a hard-core sex line. The number listed once belonged to Teens Teaching AIDS Prevention, which is associated with the Kansas City-based nonprofit Good Samaritan Project. However, the number went out of service a year ago and has since been assigned to a sex line. Nanci Gonder, a health department spokesperson, said her office is calling state AIDS prevention groups about the matter. The department learned only this week that the AIDS hotline was no longer in operation, she said. The department approved a series of bookmarks on various topics several years ago. Gonder said the department will now review all the phone numbers on its materials. Associated Press 03.01.2007 This article was provided by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
