Louisiana: Church Health Fair Offers HIV Testing

February 8, 2007

Excelth Family Health Center will offer free HIV testing and counseling Saturday at the Health and Heritage Fair at Sixth Baptist Church, 928 Felicity St. in New Orleans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In a recent sermon at the church, the Rev. Torin Sanders urged his parishioners to get tested to help stop the spread of HIV. Larry Hurst, an HIV prevention counselor at Excelth, said he hopes more ministers will follow Sanders' example. Excelth is also offering to schedule free HIV testing and counseling at other churches. For more information, telephone 504-524-1210.
